Week 8

The third creative critical reflection I am going to film is the YouTube video. The question I am going to be answering in it is, "How does your product engage with audiences and how would it be distributed as a real media text?"

Filming:

Since I already had my script written, I was ready to start filming. I had to make up different characters to interview. Since I didn't have other people with me, I had to be all the characters. When I first started filming, I filmed every scene with normal YouTuber me first. Then I changed into my outfit for Alyssa, then Rockelle, and then Gemma. That way once I was done filming, I could go through each of the 5-character clips and clip them so that only the parts I needed were on my phone.

Editing:

After I clipped all the clips together, I opened CapCut and put all the clips in order that they fell on the script I made. After I looked for images that related to what my characters were talking about in the interviews and then saved them to my phone. After I edited them into the video and added different animations to them, so it was more interesting than them just appearing on the screen. After I looked for sound effects, I needed whether I had them already on my phone from the podcast or if I had to look for them on YouTube and screen record them. Once I was done completely editing my podcast, I had to make an intro and an outro for my YouTube video, so it felt like a real YouTube channel. I created my intro and outro on CapCut as well.

The characters:

  • YouTuber: Normal me/ me who worked on the movie (Yasmin Shehadeh)
  • Alyssa: Stereotypical teenage girl (messy bun, chewing gum, pink top)
  • Rockelle: Skatergirl (Skateboard, hat, glasses)
  • Gemma: Instagram model (obsessed with taking pictures, bubbly)

                                                                             GEMMA
                                                                         ROCKELLE
                                                                             ALYSSA

Our Movie Opening

Day Two of Filming week 5

Our second production day was on Monday February 26, 2024. Peyton, Meadow, Ella, Sydney, Ella's dad (Clayton), and I arrived back at Big Cat Habitat to finish our filming. We all arrived at 4:30. The equipment we ended up using again was just the steady camera holder. We decided to arrive around the same time to make sure the lighting would look close to the same as the first production day. The first scene we started with was with Ella's dad jumping out and confronting us. Since that shot was filmed as a Point of View shot in my character's point of view, I stood behind a fence that was off-screen and signaled to Ella's dad when he should pop out. I would look at where the girls were stepping and when they were close to a line on the pavement in front of the gift shop I would signal a thumbs-up to Ella's dad to jump out. Then we filmed the chasing scene at different angles for the next 30 minutes. After we went to shoot the scenes of us locking ourselves into...

Week 2

Now I am onto week two of our final project! This week I have started our story boards, and I am beginning to write our script. In order to start our storyboard my group and I all decided the script needed to be finished first. Before I could start to write the script, my group and I had to figure out the characters and how they were going to act. In the end my group and I decided on making me the nervous character, Sydney was going to be the aggressive character telling me to suck it up, and the other two weren't going to be scared or confident, more on the neutral side. We also decided we were going to film on 2/19/24 and 2/22/24. This way we have two days to make sure we can get the shots we want. Our costumes are still the same as of right now. The plan is still black ski mask, black pants, black long sleeves, black long pants, and black/neutral-colored shoes. Meadow and I are both planning on the characters showing the least amount of skin possible. This way it...
