In order to know what shots to use, I had to learn them. In the movie opening my group and I had an establishing shot, wide shot, mid-shot, close-up, point of view (POV), and over the shoulder shots. For this film we tried to incorporate a lot of different shots to give more technical look to the audience. Some angles we used was low, high, and canted/dutch. This added different views in the scene which will make the audience really feel a part of the movie. The best way that my group and I learned the different shots was by reading the Media Studies textbook and writing down the different descriptions to each. Also, while watching different movies or shows I would start to notice the different camera angles and shots that were being used in the film. I also took it upon myself to research didn't angles that would be used quite a bit in the horror genre, or just in movie openings in general. Watching different media types really helped while working on this project because it was easier to incorporate the different technical elements.
