My production skills developed throughout this project because I learned how to record audio with a paired-up mic. Meadow and I made sure we were not too far away from the mic to make sure you could still hear us, but not too close that we were way too loud. Also, we made sure when filming we were not in a location with a lot of noise (although the school is super noisy). I also learned how fun it was to produce a podcast, and the fun that came with it.
I started from level
zero because Meadow and I could not put our voice memo into audition and then
eventually with the help of Mr. Z and a bunch of technical difficulties, we got
it in. Then we could have started editing. We put all our sound effects from YouTube
into an MP3 converter then into audition to enhance our podcast and make it
enjoyable.
Meadow and I started planning the theme by thinking of
something we both would enjoy talking about. We both decided that fashion
trends were in style and something that would be entertaining. Talking about
trends that were going on today would be relatable to people and something that
would keep them listening. Production took us two days. The first day we filmed
half to get a feel for the mics. Then on the second day we went to a location
near the cafeteria, but it was so noisy. So, we moved next to the outdoor
stairs near the café and were able to film the whole thing with some noise but
as little as we possibly could. Editing was a pain,
but we eventually got all the sounds we needed in, and the podcast came
together. Editing took us two days as well.
Meadow and I both worked on generating the idea of “If you
won't say it, we will” It was pretty easy to come up with and we agreed on the topic of fashion
trends pretty fast. Both Meadow and I worked on the
script typing our ideas and what we were going to say. We filmed the podcast
together as well. Meadow did all the physical editing, but I was with her the whole
time giving her feedback. This helped us both decide if something was too loud
or too quiet.
We faced problems with uploading the podcast sound into
audition, but eventually we got Mr. Z to help us when we emailed him the sound
and he put it in for us. This helped us get started on the podcast. That is the
reason why we were a little late finishing. We
added a dun dun dun sound effect after we said “overrated” to create a sense of
suspense for the viewer. Our introduction and outro music were put in to
introduce and create a fun atmosphere for the podcast. We added a Nike soundtrack
to the back of us introducing the topic of Nike tech to have incidental music
that wouldn’t be expected from the viewers. We added a bubble sound effect to
add a transition from our podcast to our ad.
