Week One

Pre-Production Roles: For pre-production we all had roles to make sure the process was smooth, and we could progress to our next step which would be filming. In charge of makeup is Peyton. For makeup Peyton decided on a natural look, so it would really help sell the image of ordinary people who were breaking in. It made sure the robbers weren't out of the ordinary and didn't stand too much out. Meadow and I are in charge of costumes. We worked together to find the most appropriate apparel for our movie. We decided on black long-sleeves, black leggings/flare black leggings/black joggers, and the shoes needed to be neutral color or black. The full black attire gives off a mysterious vibe and leaves the viewers wondering who they are and what business they have breaking into Big Cat Habitat. Our location manager is Ella, so she found the perfect location that would fit our movie, "Caged." She chose Big Cat Habitat because she owns it and it would be an easy location that...

WEEK ONE BLOGS

As my group and I started to brainstorm what we wanted to do for our moving opening, we decided that the horror genre was definitely going to be what are movie genre is going to be. My group and I were originally going to have 5 people in the group that was going to be breaking in, but one of our extra actors (Aila) can't make it to our filming days. Now our actors who will be playing the break ins are Peyton, Sydney, Meadow, and me. We were thinking about whether the thing scaring the actors into running into an open cage is going to be a wild animal or a zookeeper/worker. At this point what we are thinking the whole opening will be is that there is a group of girls who break into the animal zoo and break a lock to get in. As they are walking, they are going to come across an escaped animal, get scared and run into a random opened cage, or they are going to get caught by a worker, try to outrun him, and then run into a random opened cage to try and throw him off. Either way our op...

Week one

This is the start of our portfolio project, also start of week one. In my group it is Peyton, Meadow, Ella, and I. We are going to base our opening on the horror genre. We all find the horror genre to be very interesting and entertaining for us as an audience. Ever since I was little I was always intrigued by horror movies, and I would never get scared. I always wanted to keep watching more and more. My favorite horror movies was The Shining and IT. We hope to keep our audience entertained with our opening that we are going to produce, film, and edit. Our initial idea as of right now is that we are going to film a group of people breaking into a zoo (we are probably going to film at Big Cat Habitat) and then getting caught by an animal or a worker and then the group of people are going to run into a open cage and close it. That way they will be stuck in the cage with an animal that they didn't realize was in there. We aren't sure if a worker or an animal is going to run them i...

Film Research: The Nun II

The Nun II Opening      Camera Framing         The opening of The Nun II sets the scene for a eerie, mysterious setting. Our first character who appears not to be a main character, first appears as the screen suddenly pops into a long shot. This shows a creepy dark alleyway signifying a lingering sense of evil. It stays still at a longshot as the viewers watch the young boy kick a ball down the alley. The camera first starts to move as the boy gets closer to the camera it starts to pan slowly to a church at the end of the alley. Then the camera tilts up into a low-angle shot of the church as it dollies in. It cuts to a close-...

Genre Assignment

The Genre I am choosing is horror.  I chose this genre because it keeps you on the edge of your seat and in suspense. Horror is a fun genre that can spark many different plot twists and ideas. The viewers go through many different emotions like excitement, shock, anxiety, and scared.                                                                CONTENT OF HORROR        The genre of horror is a way to tell a story that aims to bring fear, suspense, and unease to its viewers. Often in the horror genre we see elements like supernatural creatures and terror that is brought upon the audience. Some typical conventions that are often seen in the horror genre are jump scares. Jump scares are often accompanied with dark lighting, shadows, tension, ...
